WHAT IS A FASCINATOR?

A fascinator is a decorative headpiece worn on the head when attending formal occasions and events. Fascinators are millinery headpieces which are worn to compliment formal occasion wear and can be worn via a headband, clip, comb or elastic depending on customer preference.  Here at Pretty Elegant 1 we specialise in selling unique fascinators on headbands and clips as we find these are preferred by the majority of our customers as they are easy, comfortable and flexible to wear all day at any occasion. A fascinator can be made from varying materials like sinamay, velvet and organza and are often decorated with beads, feathers and flowers.  All our designs can be worn by a Mother of the Bride, a Mother of the Groom, Wedding Guests, Spectators at the famous Races at Royal Ascot, Cheltenham and the Epsom Derby and the variety of colours and styles we have available mean you can stand out from the crowd at Ladies Day.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A FASCINATOR?

Firstly decide what is important to you.  Do you have a specific colour in mind? Do you want the fascinator to match your outfit or the accessories?  What fixing do you want to wear the hair piece with?  How much do you want to spend and are you looking for a unique custom made hair fascinator? Either way, choosing a hair fascinator can be daunting at first but when you have purchased the correct fascinator, it should make you feel Pretty Elegant and special.  A fascinator or hair clip is the perfect accessory to bring your outfit, bag and shoes together so you stand out from the crowd!

WHAT FIXING SHOULD I HAVE ON MY FASCINATOR/HATINATOR?

Each fascinator or hatinator at Pretty Elegant 1 are usually supplied with either a clip or a headband.  Whether you decide on a clip or headband will depend on personal preference and also the size of the fascinator but the information below will help you to decide.

FASCINATOR ON A HEADBAND

A fascinator worn with a headband tends to be a popular choice particularly with customers who have never worn a fascinator before and those who have anxieties of wearing one.  The headband can be thick or thin and is usually covered with a satin material that will be a similar colour to the headpiece.  The width of the headband supplied with the fascinator will depend on the size and weight of the millinery headpiece.  Often hairband fascinators provide the wearer with the piece of mind that the fascinator will stay in place whilst partying or during any adverse weather at your event.  Unlike many of our competitors, Pretty Elegant 1 fascinators do not fix headbands in place so the wearer has the flexibility to position the hair fascinator on the head where it feels comfortable or where it looks best with your hairstyle.

FASCINATOR ON A CLIP

A fascinator on a clip is very popular with customers who want to have a pretty hair accessory with minimal fuss. A small hair accessory can still be just as effective in the hair as a medium to large fascinator or hatinator.  A small flower hair piece or a delicate feather hair clip can really compliment a colour in your outfit.  Some of our smaller fascinators also have the addition of a brooch pin as an attachment so you can wear it as a clothing accessory or wedding corsage.  If you see one of our fascinators on a headband but would like to buy on a clip instead and it isn’t listed, please contact us before purchase and we will be able to advise if we can convert for you.

HOW DO YOU WEAR A HAIR FASCINATOR?

Once you have decided on your chosen fascinator.  Which side of the head do you wear it I hear you say? In the millinery trade, fascinators are usually made for the right side of the head. However, we understand that wearing a fascinator on the right hand side can feel strange or uncomfortable for many so if this is important for you, consider buying one of our more symmetrical shaped fascinators (which can be worn on the left or right side of the head) or one which can be worn with a clip in a variety of angles.  Many of our designs are fully flexible so this gives you a greater chance of finding the perfect fascinator.
